Seating new brake pads?
I just put on my new Axxis Ultimates and Cobalt rotors from Cobalt Sunday night. Now it's cold here and i want to know if that would effect the break in procedure? Or do the pads and rotor get real hot no matter what? Another question, is there a certain time period the break in HAS to happen in? Thanks for any input.
PS: thanks Andy and the other guy that answered the phone.

your Axxis pads should have come with bedding in instructions - mine did...
basically you do easy, then moderate, then firm stops from 20, 30, 40, and 50 mph.
Drive around between each type of stop to allow the rotors and pads to cool evenly. You may want to give Andie a call for the exact procedure, if your'e pads didn't come with instructions.
oh yeah -
to Andie @ Cobaltfriction.com - I love my Ultimates!

get onto a road where no one is around. accellerate to 60, then decellerate to 5 MPH. accellerate to 60 again, brake to 5 MPH a little quicker. Repeat this process 10 times till you are braking very aggressively the 10th time. Do not come to a complete stop when doing this procedure. After the 10th time, drive for about 10 minutes without hitting the brakes to allow everything to cool. I hope you flushed the brake lines when you changed the pads, or you will boil the fluid bedding the new pads.

I don't think the colder weather will effect the bedding proceedure too much. Your pads/rotors will still get hot
As far as when you should do it, you can wait as long as you want, as long as you aren't driving the car. But do not drive the car without bedding them first. This will cause wear to the rotors and pads that could shorten the life of the components.
