Default a little rubber hose for oil return ok?

I've got a 14b turbo and I've got the stock oil return as well. It's about 1 1/2" short of reaching the oil pan. Would it be ok to cut the return pipe and insert a rubber hose in it so it reaches the pan? The return pipe is rather large, so I can't find fuel lines of that size that I could use....do I need a high temp hose or just any hose will do? I know I won't need a high pressure hose....but will there be a problem with the temperature?

Thanks

I'm looking for 5/8" lines...and I'll only need about 6 inches at the most. Do you have some...or know where I could pick some up?

Thanks

get some 5/8" heater hose, it will hold up fine as long as it's not too close to any of the exhaust components.

Go to a local "BIG RIG" place that fixes Semi trucks. they have to retain a ungodly amount of heat on those motors. thats what i did, and the hose that they gave me is oil resistant also, that is a must for a drain line. Make sure it can stand the heat also.

Good luck

Go find a local Northern Hydraulics or any other type of hydraulic supply store. You can pick up 12-18" of 1/2" hydraulic line for under $10. It's flame resistant, made specifically for oil use, and is rated up to like 3000psi(not that you'll need it). It's tough stuff, it's what i'm using for an oil return line on my setup. You can buy the stuff with 1/2" NPT ends already on it to make things simpler if you want.

I'm running 3/4" heater hose, have been for 12K miles, and zero problems.

That said, heater hose is not oil-impregnable and it'll eventually rot out. I check it every 2K when I do my oil changes. When it finally starts showing signs of wear, I'll be using hydraulic line like Speed PHreak recommends. Use the heater hose if in a pinch, but run something oil impregnable if you've some time.
