i havent ran my car hard in awhile but i did the other day and my vtec never engaged. it is throwing a ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor CEL.

do you guys think that this may be causing it from kicking in (limp mode) or something like that?

uhhh, I hope your joking.... you should never take your car that high when it is cold. That is terrible for your engine. As you it not engaging while warm, check your oil level. Remember that VTEC is oil preasure, so if its low, it will be really quite and you wont be able to hear it.. Good luck with the fix.

 

VTEC wont kick in with any sort of CEL code. try replacing your thermostat?

 

the ecu doesnt allow vtec to engage until the engine is at optimal operating temperaeture. let your car warm up son
