Checking the engine code would be of greater insight than what most of us could tell you. I have a few friends with LS/VTEC's that have the same oil condition. VTEC won't engage until your engine coolant temp is raised where your needle will start to show a reading (basically once its budged from where it sits when its off).

it's not just lsvtec taht does this. all vtec motors won't engage vtec till the engine is warmed up. As far as the oil light i don't know. but check the code cause if the cel goes off it will still be stored in the ecu. So you can still pull the code.

jesse is right but also vtec will not kick if youi can get 55 psi oil pressure. you could have a small oil leak but hey its prolly just the not wharming it up.
