turbo sleeper
it's a dumb question but... i was thinking about getting turbo on my stock 96 dx hatch and i want it to be a sleeper. is there a way i could lower the sound of the bov? i know the sound is coming from the air being forced out, but is there a way i could do this without the *putsssss* sound being so loud?
thanks.
thanks.
Post this question in the Forced Induction forum, I think there is a way of routing the BOV air back into the intake, that might reduce the sound of the BOV, not sure though.
actually you are correct emr.. it's just like a stock OEM turbo setup.. where they re route the air that exits the BOV to a place after the BOV and before the intake manifold ...just like a wastegate closed loop system works.. where you route the wastegate piping to a later part of the exhaust system thus minimizing sound
Well, the dsm bov are loud when you disconect the recycling part. It is possible to recirculate with some bov's but they will need custom welding for a pipe. Queit Sleepers are nice but would you rather have a slow or fast car. Without an intercooler and large exhaust you will be really hurting yourself and their is no way to stop the turbo wine. Besides if your BOV is blazin then you already are racing. Doesn't matter then.

thats why you go with a black intercooler or get it painted black
and with the exhaust just get a DL muffler don't get like a greddy with a tip that is 5 inchs long and 4 inch's wide

get a filter for the BOV. My friend has a Blitz BOV and you can mount a little silver filter- which quiets it down A LOT, or have the little horn which sound good. I doubt you'd fool anyone because the exhaust with a turbo is way different and you can also hear it spool. The BOV is just an added bonus.
