my 88 crx si when i start it and let it warm to operating temp.. it starts at about 700 rpm and then jumpsto 1500 rpm and then drops and then raises and so on and so on what could it be any help would be nice

 

Probably need to set your Idle speed. With the car warmed up disconnect the idle control solenoid (back of intake) electrical connector. Using the idle speed screw top left of throttle body when looking from the passengers side of the car set the warm idle to 750 RPM. Reconnect the idle control soleniod and see if it fixes the problem. You may need to shut it down and restart before the check engine light will go out. If this does not fix the problem then its most likely a vacuum leak. Spray carb cleaner around the intake. When the idle speed changes then you have found the leak.

Did you check the coolant???? If it is low the idle would surge.
