Default Is LS/VTEC Turbo worth it? listen to my situation...

My friend has a 1996 gsr that he totaled that is $1700 to be picked up from the body shop its at now, i was thinking about buying it off of his hands and using it for parts.

My car has so many problems right now electricly and a few sensors i know are not working corectly because my car never idles right and no one can seem to fix it. I know a very respectable shop around here that has done the ls/vtecs before and they all have been done correctly. I was planning on telling them to strip everything but my block out of my car and just use everything in the engine bay from the gsr. Hopefully, fixing all my little problems plus adding a ton of additional power.

My block is already built and i am looking to run at about 10psi with the ls/vtec setup, hopefully putting me into the high 12 catagory i am thinking. Now my question is; is it worth it? Am i doing the right thing or should i just try to get my car rewired at a place and get hondata. I just think for the price of the gsr which was hit in the rear i could prob. part out what i dont need and walk away with a whole bunch of goodies for free. Let me know what you think.

Also what do these things run with a setup like what i am going to have.
Current Mods now are: Fully Built and Balanced Block, 3" all the way through with nothin restricting it just a 3" ultaflo turno muffler, drag III Kit from ben with the upgraded wastegate, 310cc RC Injectors, Vortech FMU with 9:1 disc. Any info will help, thanks!!!!

Going LS/vtec might be a good idea if you want more power. However, its a good idea to figure out what is wrong with your car BEFORE you do the head swap. It could end up being more difficult to track down exactly what is malfunctioning after you've just changed a bunch of things.

Well the main problem right now that is with my car is the idle. I have put hours into trying to figure it out, and i have brought it to many places. Since i had cams in my car way back before my turbo setup my idle has been all out of whack. They said once the cams are out it will be fine.... not the case. Now i am planning to take the head the manifold and the throttle body from the gsr which covers every main idle sensor there is. That i am 99% sure will correct my problem. The electrical problems i know of and i will have fixed before the engine is built. My car also run shitty under 3k rpms, again i believe becuase of whacked out sensors in my car that should all be changed during the ls/vtec engine being built. this is just what i am hoping if you think im wrong let me know, but im pretty sure that after this is done my car should be idleiing and running better. But yes the electrical problems wil all be fixed before the head is put on. thanks!

I'd do it. You'll have a GSR block you can build or sell then to make up for it. $1700 is a good price for all the sensors and head & related equipment.
