i made a post in the ef forum and nobody wanted to help me so i'm putting it in here.
i have a majority of the part for a ls/vtec and recently came across a cheap gsr block. so my question is do i
a)make a poormans R
b)stick with the ls/vtec
c)put the ls internals into the gsr block and save some money on the ls/vtec conversion ****?
some reasoning behind your answer would be nice too.... thanks in advance

I would build the gsr block. B18C is the ideal block to me, it has an even balance between torque and high revs, areas where the LS/B16 have only one. LS/VTEC is better than the GSR when comparing power, but the C1 was made to last long and the ls/vtec only lasts as long as the gsr if the redline is dropped and if assembled correctly; don't follow my lead, since it's your motor and your car, do whatever you want, this is just my opinion.

gsr block with a b16 head.
i would use the gsr block and do the poormans. the rs ratio is better, it has better oiling properties and it has a block girdle, all of which help support higher revving.

that im not sure, because there are people running gsr blocks with forged internals and i consider that a poormans. static compression of a stock b16 head on a stock gsr block is 9.8:1
