Default boosted ls/vtec

Would it be worth it to turbo charge a ls/vtec b18a1 block Gs-r head got some parts for the head type-R cams and aem cam gears.
So what I was thinking was have the block built before the turbo and head go on the sleeves pistons the works. If it wouldnt be a good Idea then I'm just going to a gs-r block

either way you'll make power if you buit the ls block you can rev to 8k but the gsr you can rev to 10k if you want but i think the stroke on the ls gives you alot more tq.

yes boost is good for the ls/vtec.

I had a boosted GSR and when I did a complete build up on it, I threw an LS crank in the GSR block for the hell of it. It nets a lot more lower end tourqe!!

IMHO it made a more fun daily driver.

Yeah, that huge stroke difference in the LS motor makes a huge difference, just like high compression

The stroke difference on the GSR and LS is about 1.8mm. That equates to 37 cubic centimeters of displacement, or 0.037 litres. It's about the same difference as boring your motor .5mm over, but you don't hear about people ranting and raving over that power difference. An LS/89mm crank is worth maybe 2 ft-lbs of torque over a GSR crank under ideal situations, so there really isn't anything worth writing home about. A built LS/VTEC can rev just as high as the GSR motor, I don't know where the hell you pulled that out of.

I have to somewhat disagree, if you look at a dyno graph of ls vs gsr, you see the gsr doesn't make peak tq until like 6600rpms, thats right, way up there!!

On the other hand, the ls motor makes peak tq at like 3700ish and will continue to redline if you build the motor right.

so year the difference isn't much, but where it comes in the powerband makes the difference.

Edit::: I realize were talking about ls/vtec motor, the different cranks make peak tq in different areas of the rpm band. I personally prefer ls crank in GSR block, thats what I run

He's talking about an LS/VTEC, not an LS. With the same head they're virtually identical. If an LS/VTEC made peak torque at 3700, or 4000, or even 4500 not a single racer would be running a GSR block.

I was kinda forced into an LSVTEC after a cylinder crack on the GSR block. Seems decent for now but I can't kick my overheating problem so I'll let you know when it actually works
