Ok, ive been meaning to post this but been forgeting to -but i know its not good...
Doesnt happend all the time but maybe once every two to three weeks...
When i just driving *normally* i would step on the brake and the car would begin to slow then the pedal just SINKS!! im not slowing down anymore..i try to push the brake pedal more but it SINKS to the FLOOR! the way that i solve this problem temporarily and avoid accidents is; i let go of the brake and press on it again and its stops as if nothing happend!!
one time i felt and heard it pulsating! from what i heard about ABS is that it PULSES rapidly to prevent from skiding...could my ABS be bad?!?

See if the problem is dependent on how hard you push the brakes. If the brakes stop fine under hard pressure, but the pedal sinks to the floor under light pressure, then your master cylinder is bypassing, and will need to be replaced.

hrmm..i'm gonna have to look into this as well. My car was doing that this past summer..but it hasnt happened in the past 3 months. wierd!?
To find out if it's your master cylinder, start your car, but don't drive off, just put your foot on the brakes, if the pedal sinks to the floor, your master cylinder is gone. It'll be around $90 to be replaced.
If your pedal doesn't sink, then you probably have water in your brake fluid, so you should replace it.

It is very likely a master cylinder unless your brakes wernt bled right though your last fluid change. If you dont want to troubleshoot it yourself, most large brake shops offer free system inspection. Take them up on it. -HIT
Hmm.. I don't know if I'm even close about this one, but here goes nothing..
From class I learned that to test the Master Cylinder and Power Booster from inside the car, you must test it with the car on and off..
With the car off step on the Brake Pedal. If it's nice and firm, let go and press it again.. And if it sinks down further, the problem is in the Master Cylinder.
With the car on step on the Brake Pedal. If it's nice and firm, your Power Booster is fine.
But I also remembered that if the Power Booster is faulty, it can increase pedal travel. And if the problem is a loss in vacumm in the Power Booster, you'll feel the pedal pulsate a little bit.
I know I'm probably completely wrong, but I thought I'd just throw it in case somebody wants to find out a little more about Brakes..
Hope you find the problem.. Good luck..
