well i have a 91 integra and ive been having poroblems with the brakes lately...when i step on the brakes it looks like it goes all the wayyy down, and it takes forever to brake...now this has been going on for a while now, and its getting to the pooint were i brkae and the car just slides when i brake...can someone tell me what it might be i was thinking it was the master cylinder brakes

check the m.c for leaks or frothy/bubbly break fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. might need to bleed them, it could also be a break line.

ohh yea i forgot to mention that the ABS lights is on..been on for a while now

i been having similar brake problems but not to the extent of just sliding. mine become very spongy and sink on occasion. ive tried changing the mc but it did nothing. i was told its either the booster or a problem with the brake lines. ive bleed them several times and no change. in your case involving abs, i have no clue..but maybe my experience will help you...=|

For the op:

on your DA you will have your mc reservoir and a abs unit reservoir. make sure both are topped up. i would visually check for leaks at the abs distribution block, all lines and mc. my guess is the mc is leaking. at your point now, i wouldn't recommend driving untill it's fixed as your close to no brakes at all.

check it all out and let us know if you need more help.

did you properly bench bleed your mc before you installed it? when you bleed your brakes, do you get air out. a bad booster won't cause a sinking pedal as the hydrolic pressure will never allow it. a fualty booster will cause a "hard to press" brake pedal (remember a booster is only there to "boost" the pressure your foot is putting down. without them we couldn't push hard enough! lol)

sounds like your master cylinder is on the way out. some of the suggestions about bleeding don't really apply if you haven't done anything lately to bring this on. if the pedal just started sinking one day and your fluid level is good; your MC needs to be replaced.

If they brake pedal is going all the way to the floor then it's probably a leak in the brake lines. Like stated earlier if the MC was dieing then the pedal would be a lot harder to push down. I would put some paper down that covers the whole bottom of the car and park over it, Top off your brake fluid and start pumping the brakes, it should show up on the paper where it is leaking.

wrong. if a seal fails in the MC the pedal will go to the floor and the fluid level will stay full.

check the back of your m/c...the secondary seal in the primary piston might be leaking which in turn will not build up enough pressure causing your spongy brake pedal...

It's your MC. Change it and problem solved. The ABS like could be a couple of things.

Sounds like the problem i had which turned out to be the M.C. I kept putting it off and putting it off, that was until i hit a tree. Luckily it was in my yard and i was going like 3 mph. Definitely not a smart move on my part.
