Default Update on Clutch/Tranny Problem

Bad news, my problem has gotten so bad that I don't even want to drive the car until it gets to a shop. New symptoms; the hissing noise that was made when I pressed the clutch pedal in before has turned into an irritating sqeaking noise. It only happens when I press the pedal. The car will no longer stay in reverse...it goes into reverse, then will pop out with a loud thump and you can hear the gears grinding. Release bearing and tranny problem? How much $ am I going to end up spending on this if I drop the tranny, and do the clutch myself?

Thanks,

Matt

prepare to spend lot of $$$$, 5-600 for all the synchro + labor.
the sqeaking noise should be your release bearing, no big deal, you can change it while you pull the tranny out.

if you want to do it yourself, good luck. its not that easy if you never do it before.........
