changing your final drive would change acceleration I would guess, but also top end speed right?

Yeah, lowers your top speed. You get less out of each gear.

Yes. The top speed goes down as teh Final Drive ratio goes up.

That is: If you change from a 4.4 FD to a 4.929 FD, the revs will raise quicker, but your top speed will go down.

You can adjust for this with an LS 5th gear though to save some RPMs for the highway

my city gas mileage has gone up actually.
it's the freeway miles that are down. but it's not even down by much at all..maybe 5-10 miles lower for a full tank!

city gas mileage has went up because i can cruise on the streets in 5th gear now

I would doubt it. I really don't think the ATS is that great of a drag mod. Any high powered drag car would want the exact opposite anyways. For the street and for autox/track events I think the ATS is the best though.

The time you save from accelerating harder you will lose in shifting so its a pretty even give I think.
