B20/Vtec reliability
I want to build a reliable B20/Vtec engine. I was planning on going with a B20 bottom end and a GSR head and transmission. The question I have with this setup is are there problems with a conversion like this. It will be on my daily driver, and I will be using only oem/jdm parts. I will be installing it in a '99 honda civic ex. Any comments will be helpful
any custom built engine ie (lsvtec/crvtec) will have it's own characteristics when it comes to reliability...trust me, even though you're using OE internals, it's all boils down to this: did you build it RIGHT, and if you did, you should have minimal problems, otherwise, you'll be getting CEL's and oil leaks like the rest of us
if you BUILD it, it shouldn't give any problems, resleeve it is my best advice, the rest should be like an ls swap wit a vtec head, in my opinion if you don't want to build it just do a ls/vtec....the b20 stock sleevers are fairly weak, even for NA....good luck man
oh well i thought u were talking about "reliability" in general....as for more technical issues, try the search function and i'm sure people have posted problems with resleeving, headwork, and piston/rod installs into the b20....good luck
