Default About to install DSM 450's with SMC, Noticed a crack on the black tip of the injector?

I need advice! I got these and didn't notice the crack on the black cap that directs spray. The thing that surrounds the needle. Actually there are two cracks down both sides and it spins around unlike the other 3. This might be a dumb question but my buddy said that it doesn't matter because one of his injectors had the same thing and didn't effect his car at all. I know he dosen't know all so I am turning to you. My fear is that is will blow off and get caught somewhere it shouldn't like melt to the plug, jam in the piston or stuck in a valve. Do you think it is safe to install? Will the injector still work properly? Any advice will be appriciated. If you say no go then I need to find a new one. The other three are fine. Thanks for all of your help

I wouldn't worry about the tip going into the cylinder but i would worry about the spray pattern being off. Send them to a place to have them cleaned and they also replace any broken pintle caps. I think someone on this board was doing it for like $25. hope this helped

I can't do the cleaning service anymore, but can get you some caps if you need them.

Do they just pop on and off or is more to it? Thanks

The cap doesnt affect the spray at all, its only there to protect the pintle. You defintaly dont want to have it fall into your engine though

The pintle caps dont hurt anything.. just dont let it fall into the engine.... just go ahead and take it off.. i am running 550cc ND and none of them have the pintle caps on them, and they have worked fine since i installed them almost a year ago..

so it will be fine just by taking it off? I suppose that is good news because I saw that it actually has three cracks

hey i search and found this, same thing happened to mine. Should i take it off or can i use some glue, i think seal-all or some automotive strong glue to seal it back so it don't fall, but i'm pulling on it and it won't come out, so i'm guessing it won't fall anyways?

Id think the fuel would eat away the glue...
