Rebuilt Engines Last?
Just curious, about how long will a rebuilt engine, one with darton sleeves, JE pistons, Eagle Rods, ect. last? Will is last as long as a Honda would normally, or not? The reason for doing my rebuild is to run a 150-175 shot of nitrous at the track, but this would only be a few times a month when the track is open, so we would be talking excessive wear from the nitrous. I know there are alot of boosted Ludes with rebuilds here, so i figured it would be a good place to ask.
Yea I did, or did that get brought back up? Did the one guy that said he bought a set ever respond? From the info I have gathered, its not likely that they will work, and even if they did, your looking at about $750 for a set with rings, so you might as well spend a few extra bucks and resleeve. I dont know if anyone has done this, but I am looking into taking out a personal loan to help pay for the rebuild.
it all depends on how well it's built and how you take care of it. but don't expect it to last as long as a stock honda motor, especially with that 150-175 shot. don't forget you would have to upgrade your ignition, injectors, clutch, etc. to take that much N2O. it takes some carefull tuning and right set-up's when it comes to nitrous, especially a big shot like that. one little careless mistake and kaboom, just one miss-shift and say bye-bye to your motor.
Well stock Honda motors last 250k miles or more, I dont think anyone would expect their rebuilt engine to last that long. I just wanted to see if rebuilds to last, I wouldnt want to spend 4k into the engine, and have it blow up after a 10k miles. I mean from normal ****, if I misshifted, or did something dum, I would expect it.
