I will always be a fan of the crowers for the SOHC. Nothing like starting with a blank.

I run a Zex cam on my motor, and it was fine, but nothing what I expected. no real difference till about 6000rpm then for the next 1500rpm or so it was only an improvement.

None of these show the amount of overlap that is designed into the cams.

I.E. The Crower turbo cam although has mediocre duration, has great lift and a lack of overlap designed into the cam for forced applications.

N/A is more about the valve overlap. That's why the DOHC's have it so good. You can make adjustments until you see fit.

It's not all about the lift and duration either. Most of these are unstreetable (well to a normal person). For a race application you should consult an engine builder and get the cam that best suits the compression and fuel maps you are running.

If not racing suggest a Zex2 or Crower2.

Not sure about crane but, GUDE is a reground cam (NO NO).
If your going for a cheap cam go with Hondasaver. They are regrinds yes but, at about 60% of the market cost you cannot go wrong.

Naturally!

Awesome cam, however, w/o porting, it's gains will be minimal.

Nothing tells the overlap story like dyno proof and first hand experience. Lift can help you determine if the cam is indeed compatible with your spring/piston setup, and duration can be indicative of idle quality...

Agree.

But, what Honda head doesn't need porting....hell that is where most of the power is to be made in these engines.

From experience: the d16 heads are good heads for porting but the d15 heads are actually can be played with more.

I really think the main reason alot of people dont give the D series a chance since they are not familiar with its potential and the products out there.
Luckily, there have been people that actually contacted us and were willing to get a head package from us. results... nothing but pure satisfaction. Who here in H-T actually has D series experience and is a true enthusiast.
We love the D series and thats why we can put down 40+ HP increase on just header, intake, exhuast and our head package. and thats on a low compression block still. What more with our high comp blocks?
Good thing theres guys out there like Spade and other loyal D series fans. the D16a6 is a fun motor. I hope others can see its "power" potential as well as its the "fun" factor of building a D series.

Exospeed Preview.... look out for our D series RAce car that should be ready in the Spring. D powered, All motor, EFI, and licensed to drink alcohol.

with Zex as well as Crower 2 & 3, the problem is that they require high c/r, 9-9.5:1 simply won't cut it...at least 11-12:1 is required to get some good power out of them. otherwise you're wasting time.

when I had the Zex (59300) cam lack of higher c/r meant very little gains overstock.

Speaking of regrinds, Crower regrinds sohc cams for $80 and some change. They are limited spec, but so is any other regrind...
