The 14b is the engine code of the Dual Rotor Engine that the FD (Thrid Gen RX-7) came with, I'm not sure what Turbo it had though... interesting question though
Edit: Oh yeah, engine code is 13b, seeing as its a 1.3litre engine. Wasn't the 14b a DSM turbo?

14b doesn't relate to the rotary engine. RX-7's only came with 12A, 13B, 13BT, 13B-REW. The second gen turbo (turbo II) is something I will look into, the 3rd gen is something not worth bothering with. I do know that the Turbo II models had 2 different turbos between 87-91, 90-91 is the turbo that you would want. I believe that it has a slightly larger compressor housing. I am pretty sure the exhaust manifold to turbo connection is a standard garret piece, but am unsure of the downpipe connection.
The TII turbo is the largest turbo put on a factory car from what I hear. They are good for 250 HP and flow well for high revving engines since the rotary redline for the TII is 7.5K. I am in the process of seing if the turbo flange is a T-3, and if it isn't how easily an adapter plate could be made. I also am going to compare it to a T04 exhaust flange to see if it is the same or not.
I have heard of people weldingtwo of the TII intercoolers together and making the intercooler larger, but it is something you would have to ask a specialist.

I used to own a street ported turbo FC. I still have the turbo if anyone is interested in buying it.. i ran 15 psi through it no problem. It has slight shaft play, but still worked fine when it was taken off. I was pushing around 260 rwhp when it was pulled just to give you an idea. I held it up to a T3 one time and it is slightly larger. Mine is from an 88, and the 90-91's are slightly larger. The only prob I see is that the exhaust housing is quite large, but i'm sure with the higher rpms you could spool it. If anyone is interested drop me a line. Also I do believe that the flange is neither a T3 or a T4, but am not positive.
I used to have a 93 RX7 that was all decked out, but sold it for cash for my MBA. I bought a 90 civic HB with a B18B. I have worked on many RX-7's including some 87-91's, but never studied the stock turbo for these cars much. A friend of mine that has one has given me most of the info on the stock turbo. Some I have looked into myself. I know a good bit about the larger turbos since I had a T78 at one time on my RX7 and later ditched it for a T62. I never studied the T-3 series turbos much and now I am focused more on these for my civic. I was interested in the TII turbo for my civic because it flows better at high RPM and wouldn't huff out easily....it will provide more volume of air at higher RPM that most stock take off turbos. Yes, it does have a large exhaust housing, but it isn't extreemly large and a lower A/R ratio would probably make it spool quick enough. Personally I don't think it will be that bad because I have an S-1 trans and it rips through the gears accelerating rather quicky which would make the lag seem not so bad. Besides I am used to a little lag and don't mind it. I won't know for sure until I get it to work...if I can get an exhaust manifold to work.
