Auto and manual radiator
Hey guys, i was looking at parts when i relize this, i always tought that a oil cooler is a plus in a car, and the auto accords have a radiator with an oil cooler (for the trans), so i was thinking do you think if you put an auto radiator in a manual accord and put the engine oil to cycle trough the radiator will work? i was thinking the trans oil is a lot thinner, maybe this would work cuz of this?
Autos use the radiator's coolant for cooling. That's coolant going through those lines not tranny oil.
Manuals don't have coolant passages.
Many people add external tranny oil coolers which is easy on an auto as they have active fluid pumping, but AFAIK, manual tranny oil just sits in the housing, sloshed around by gears, and is not actively pumped.

well said!
I wonder if anyone (with money, and in the extreem drag world probably) has tapped a manual tranny with an external pump to add a cooler to it???
seems possible, but worth it? maybe.

guys wait, you got it wrong, i was thinking about ENGINE OIL, not tranny, i know the manual tranies doesn't need one, but you sorta asnwer the question anyways, i know for a fact that some auto cars do cool their auto tranies oil thru the radiator, example, the mitsubishi lance that they sell here, no the ones you have. You see what i'm trying to get??
anyway, you are probably right, the accords use the coolant to cool the auto trannies.

You may be on to something. My 94 S-10 Blazer has a oil cooler built into the radiator on the left side of the core. The auto tranny has the cooler on the right side. No reason why your idea shouldn't work. Make sure it doesn't leak!
well, my idea kinda fell thru, cuz if the accords doesn't have an oil cooler for the trannie then it will have to be custom made anyway.
I always like the idea of an oil cooler, IMO adds reliability to the car, but hey, that's just me

it;ll be a waste of time and money to route lines to go into the tranny fluid core in the radiator. well...prolly about 10 bucks and 3 hours, but it won't be worth it. the coolant flowing thru the radiator is already hot so you'll be using something that's hot to cool something that's hot also. just invest in a front-mount oil cooler and use something cool(air) to cool something hot(oil)

ok, yeah i know that, but is worth a shot, besides, it'll be the closest to stock that you could get.
I was just thinking, but if i do something with an oil cooler i'll probably do it myself and buy a kit or something like that
