Default Is a Honda Smarter then us?

ok guys i'm about to go nuts. And i don't believe that nobodydoesn't know the answer to this problem. This problem has been happening for like a month now. I have a 70mm inlinefour TB. I reset the ECU and the car idles at like 1000 but then i drive the car and it warms up and it then idles at like 2k. I have tried everything anyone can possibly think of. I got a brand new IACV, checked the voltage on the TPS, checked the MAP, adjusted the idle screw, everything u can think of....and it still does it. Any help would be appreciated more then u could imagine. Thanks guys

Sounds like air bubbles in the head, or blockage. How's the thermostat?

the thermostat is only about 8 months old (brand new)...and yeah, when i put the stock TB back on the car idles fine....but with the 70mm TB on, the car runs totally awesome compared to the stock.

Yes. Honda is smarter "then" us. If your stock TB provides for a regular idle, you know the high idle is related to the aftermarket TB. Hopefully somebody with a 70mm TB and a regular low idle can chime in here to confirm that there is indeed a problem, and this is not the norm. Bump.

the thing is, originally i had a JG 65mm TB and it did this...then i got the inline4 70mm TB. I put this one on and it did it for a little bit and i then adjusted the TPS to .500v It was then fine for like 3 months. I took the throttle body off to change something and i put it back on and now its back and i can't get rid of it.

the IACV has to be tapped to be reset...try hitting it a couple times to see if it resets..but i doubt that's your problem...just throwing something in there....i'll start asking around.

Just curious how did you check? The best way is with WD40 or starter fluid.

What do the temps look like? Is it a steady increase up to running temperature? Does it bounce up and down? You can find almost every problem with the temperature and timing. Sounds to me like a sensor went bad and your running open loop. That's just a guess you know as how I'm not standing right next to the car seeing what it's doing. I'd check there because idle is computer controlled and unless your ECU is screwed it's has to be in the feedback systems. Maybe in the o2 sensor or something.

yeah, the temp increase is steady up to running temp. Its weird, b.c just a couple days ago the car ran fine and idled fine. all i did was take off the tb and now its acting up again. Only does it rev high when it gets warmed up. thanks again guys

The problem that you are having is more likely the aftermarket throttle body butterfly is not quite sealing when it's closed. More like air leaked.

so far thats about the best thing i've heard all night...that is a good possibility considering the only thing i did when i took it off was adjust the screw that allows it to open and close so much...so maybe since i adjusted that, it broke the seal and now won't allow it to seal.

Boostedb20vtec <-----the man

thanks alot man...i used this tester i had to see if it was leaking there and sure enough it was, which would cause the high idle

don't know anything to suggest about the throttle body, other than whats already mentioned/discussed. but if its ecu related, could it be than more fuel is needed to compensate for more air due to larger throttle body. Also, if its obd1 ecu, let it learn start ups for few days. If I reset my ecu, it doesn't idle as smooth for couple days as it re-adjusts.

or in other words, your TB is sticking
