Brake question
I was told to ask over here that some one may be able to help me out. I have a 92 Civic Si with LS brakes on the front. Many people have told me to get brembo blanks from autozone b/c they are only like 20 bucks and have a good warranty. But every autozone I go to in PA where I live has never heard of them. Can anyone help me out? What are a good set of rotors and pads to run? I drive my car over a 1000 miles per week. TIA
You're mixed up slightly.
Generally, people here are running 1) Brembo blanks OR 2) Autozone rotors. Which one depends on how much they want to spend, and if they believe the Brembo's are better or not.
Last I heard, http://www.nopi.com actually had the cheapest price on the Brembo rotors.

the Autozone in my area (Elkton, MD) carries Brembo rotors. I use the Prelude VTEC front rotors, and they are from Brembo. they are stamped Brembo on the side of the rotor and the box says Brembo....
good luck.
good luck.
I know www.collettimotorsports.com used to run good deals on them, but they may have stopped. I would probably choose Brembo over Autozone, as both are cheap.
Note: my local Autozone does NOT carry Brembos so it varies with location.
Edit: fixed link.

I do mainly road driving back and forth to work and drag racing. I am just looking to get some good stopping power with what I have. I am not looking to go nuts on braking power. I need new rotors so people were saying that the brembo blanks were better then the cross drilled rotors and much cheaper. But like I said when I went to auto zone they did not have them. If anyone has any suggestions of what would be a good rotor and pad to use that would be great.
See reply #3 and #5.
Edit: for a good street pad ==> Axxis Ultimates, Hawk HPS or HP+. Get the Ultimates because they are cheaper.

I just used Autozone rotors for my first HPDE, and they held up fine. This was with 4 20-25 min sessions. However, my friend had a brand new set on his Type R, and he warped his within 3 laps. He might have just gotten a bad set, or they could just suck.

If you are just running on the street, and your current rotors are not warped, why do you need new rotors at all? You can change to a more aggressive pad compound and improve braking tremendously.
Andie at Cobalt or Matt at Carbotech could hook you up with great pads.

My rotors are really warped and getting worse by the day. I do not know if they were ever cut before so I am going to look into that when I take them off. Do you have a web site or a number for those people. Thanks
