Default sputter/miss/cut-off at 2500 rpms?

Well, the car has been sitting in front of my parent's house for about amonth. I just got rid of the MSD 6BTM, EFI PMS and 550cc injectors. Now I'm just running the Blaster SS external coil and stock injectors.

I need to drive the car for a little while, just to and from work, (wastegate spring removed) until I decide on what standalone to get.

And just like the topic says, I'm getting a sort of sputter/miss/cut-off at around 2500 rpms.

I though that it was just a miss, but I noticed that when it sputters/misses, the AVC-R cuts on/off, and the speedometer jumps around.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

BTW: the car ran fine before I let it sit.

Sounds like a loose wire somewhere. Check all your grounds...

Thanks, i'll check that out first thing tomorrow. Any clue to why it happens only at around 2500 rpms?

Yup, plugs looked fine.

Changed them out anyway, and had the same problem.

the speedometer or tachometer? Test the coil and the distro. You might have shorted something out.

Both! When the tach hits around 2500 the car does the miss/stumble, and the speedometer jumps around.

Is there any chance that you bumped your VTEC engagement point down to 2500rpm? Did you ever have a system that allowed you to toy with VTEC?

No, but that's a good point. The PMS did allow me to toy with the rev limiter.

Someone had my car for a while to tune it (long story short, he didn't know ****). And he told me that they "removed the rev limiter". This is how I had full adjustability over it with the PMS.

I looked at the ECU harness when I took out the PMS, and seems as though a couple wires were toyed with. I think it was a red one with black dots and another. I can't remember off of the top of my head. I'll check when I get home.

The thing is...I didn't even know you could remove the rev limiter by altering the harness. Any ideas?

Go over your wiring with a fine tooth comb. Your buddy probably messed something up. That is if it was working before you handed your car over. I have no idea about PMS

After I got my car back, i fixed everything (he did more damage than good...like I said long story) and the car ran perfect.

These problems only came after I removed the PMS, MSD and 550's. I still have the Blaster SS external coil hooked up though.

I'm going to go over everthing tomorrow. I'll let you guys know if I find anything.

If anyone has any ideas before then, let me know.

I appreciate everyone's input thus far!
