Default pcv valve question...

if its bad, does your car start to shake alot, not always, but after a while you notice that at stop lights when your rpms are down, the car feels like the air conditioner turns on and it starts shaking...?

is your car automatic? If so then we are thinking it's something else. try checking out this topic:

or try adjusting your idle if you are using a manual transmission:

but, just for knowledge, what is involved with changing the pcv valve. and that's the little valve deal in the valve cover correct?

to check the pcv valve, with car idling pull the PCV out of the cover and put your finger over it, you should feel vacuum and here it click. To replace just pull it off the hose and push hose onto new one and insert back in cover. With your eyes closed it should take less than 10 seconds.

Yes the one that pops into the valve cover and has a hose going to the IM. I think every car since the 70's has these by law, they are just different sizes shapes and sometimes in slightly different locations.

If it's not bad it doesn't need to be replaced.

It's between the #2+#3 spark plug wires.

ooo, i see it, so just follow it to the valve cover, and it looks like something plastic?

would a bad one be causing that shaking? It feels like the AC turns on. And it shakes, really, really bad, like my steering wheel shakes so bad that the plastic around speedo and tach looks like its cracking.

and its not motor mounts...

Sqeeze shut the hose to it with some pliers and see if your idle smooths out. You should also hear a click from the valve when you squeeze and release the hose.

if that isnt the problem, then where else could be the problem, i was debating selling this car and getting a prelude, but if i can just fix the shaking ill keep the grocery shopper for another year or so...

edit: I want to the TB Trick, could someone tell me where the hose is? On the upper pic...

squeeze the hose coming out of the valve. there is a plastic thing sticking out of the valve cover between 2 and 3 spark plugs and it has a hose attached going to the intake manifold. Squeeze that hose.
