Not necessary. And the tranny mount is a pain to get to, you might have to unbolt it to get the inserts in and then retighten the bolts to spec.

No, but it took a long time, a lot of extensions, and several swivel joints.

so you can install the motor mount inserts with "basic" hand tools?

What are some pros and cons to having motor mount inserts?

Yes, basic hand tools are all that it calls for.

Ratchet, couple feet of extensions, swivel socket are pretty much it.

Time & Patience required

Took me a good 4 hours for the rear one alone. The 2 fronts were easy

The rear one is the spawn of Satan. When I did mine, I ended up unbolting most of the engine and raising/lowering it a few inches. And just when you think you're finished by getting it out ... HA! Getting it back in with the added size from the inserts is worse!

Or you can just skip the rear mount altogether...

What exactly will the aftermarket mounts do for you in the long run though?

helps with your launch. transfers power to the wheels more efficiently, instead of letting the engine jerk. also may keep your existing mounts from tearing or tearing more.
