Default Shortblock. Question !

I`m looking for a new engine for my ITR.

Now, I received an offer:

A b18c1 block fit with Type R pistons and a Type R head...

So my question:
What is the difference between a bare b18c1 block and a bare b18c5 block (meaning without pistons and rods...) ?

The crankshaft.

The stampings on the block and crankshaft for main bore and crank journal sizes.

Engine code stamping.

The rods are different too....

ITR rods + PR3 pistons will not fit

GS-R rods + P73 pistons will not fit unless the small end of the rod or the piston is shaved.

P73 pistons will fit on GSR rods.

Okay okay, thanks

So what does that mean to me..? Note, we have ONLY the Type R in Germany. I am not experienced with the other engines. So your help is needed (thanks again)

How can a b18c1 block be a replacement for a b18c5 ?

Using a Type R crankshaft, Type R rods and pistons ?

Or should I better wait until I find a b18c5 block ?

Sven

Use the B18C1 block, you will be fine. All of the parts are interchangeable between the B18C5 and C1.

You meant LS/RS/CRV rods

The bare blocks should be idnetical in dimmensions, just a different stamp for the block code. If it makes you feel any better, I am running a B18C1 in my ITR, replaced my B18C5 with bad rings. Is the B18C1 stock, not exactly...
