Weird noise coming from walbro pump or fuel system when getting near low?
Well I would always hear this noise...sounded like a muffled v8 idle....hard to describe. Anyways, I thought it was an exhaust leak or something...but it figured out today it happens when I get near 1/4 tank and below on gas. The pump is a 255 walbro...I can hear the noise when the pump primes and at idle and driving...kinda sounds like a v8 idle or a coffey pot (some) sound when they're making coffey. It kinda freaked me out since the fuel cools down the pump...anyways, I'm just curious if anyone would know what the hell that sound is...and if it could of damaged anything.
take it out and inspect it
Anyways, I haven't noticed any bubbling type noises. Mine does sound weird sometimes at low fuel. Mine seems to pump harder when the fuel is low, I think its supposed to do that. I have read it is not good to run a Walbro on a low tank of fuel. Does it still make the noise when the tank is full?
nothings wrong with it. mine sounded the same. sounded like there was air in the line. you should be fine.

but i do notice that when i am near empty, the pump seems to be get louder when i am low on gas.
yeah on the walbro's,
when low on fuel the pump will make a noise that is like scraping the bottom of the tank.
just don't run it on low fuel and you'll be fine

You guys are talking about the Walbro 255 intank pumps right?
I got the 255 Walbro High Pressure one and I can't hear it at all. Now I'm wondering if there's someting wrong with mine....

Mine does the EXECT same thing. Mine is a Holley... but that's just stamped on the Walbro pump. I thought that something was blocking the pump screen inside the tank, causing it to work harder or something.
It never did this until I installed an AEM fuel rail, however. I wonder of the combination of low fuel levels and larger fuel rail cause this.
