Default stock h22 with boost?

I've searched this already so don't flame me.

I'm gonna give up my B-series motor buildup for an H22 swap now. What I wanna know is that after everything is sold and done, I probably won't have enough for a internals for another summer or something.

HOw well does the stock internals hold up to boosting? I know the B-series hold up pretty good with moderate(max 15psi)boost, but I have no clue about H-series motors....

would it be a good Idea to go h23 vtec?

h23 vtec isnt that reliable, if you want a boosted h-series be prepared to build it when it blows, it should handle 6psi with decent tunning, but i wouldnt go more than that

How do the stock sleeves fair out in this? Are they as strong as the B-series have known to be?

you can't run forged pistons in H series without re-sleeving

It's the pistons (ringlands) that you need to be worried about, a lot of times they fail before anything else does. 7-8 PSI is a safe margin, anything above 9 PSI is pushing your luck.

actually you can run forged pistions in H series w/o re-sleeving... you just have get some coating put on the cylinder walls.... i forget what it is but it takes the nickel out of the cylinder walls. its not really that cheap and it still wont be as strong as re-sleeving but it can be done.

it's pointless to do it though b/c H22 sleeve can't hold boost like B-series sleeves, and yes, i know people push 14 or more psi on stock H22, but b-series guys can do it, and it is safer
