Default Turbo Timer Needed???

I was talking to my dad today and he thinks my turbo timer isnt needed on my car. i have a 95 GSR turbo and he tells me that the oil will never get hot to have to let the car sit and worry about coking the turbo. he says the only reason the turbo timer was invented was for big semi trucks that are running full boost all the time. he says for our cars its just a gimmick and you dont need it. Is this true? by the way im running 6.5 psi if this makes any difference. thanks

Your dad does make a very good point. If we really needed one for our cars then wouldn't stock cars with turbo in them need them too? But, to be on the safe side I would recommand keeping it b/c no harm can really come to it if you leave the turbo timer on. I rather spend that extra 100 dollars then to be sorry later. Or, if you have time, you can just sit in your car for about 30 secs on local trips and maybe 2-3mins on longer trips with the engine on. Either way will be helpful.
