Default No Turbo Timer

Okay guys, I don't have a turbo timer. I always sit in my car for about a minute and a half after I have stopped to give the turbo time to cool down (the same effect as a turbo timer). I have one question though. If I have'nt boosted in the last 10 minutes of driving, do I still need to sit in the car for a minute or a minute and a half?? How long do you guys usually set your turbo timers for??

well if you are boosting therfore your turbo is spooling more and you will create more heat. so if been you should sit for about 1 -1.5 mins but just 3k shifting 30 secs is all i do it for

I run mine for 1:30 normaly and 3:00 when I beat the life out of my car for like half and hour or so. I have read that even with just oil cooling :30 is fine. (corkey bell - Maximum boost) I guess the turbo looses it's heat pretty fast, which would make sense because it is so much hotter than the engine or surounding air.

UPS trucks start, stop, go, ALL DAY LONG, ALL YEAR LONG. some of them have 1.2 millions miles on the ORIGINAL turbos. So, for turbo timers...I lost my belief in them. Sure if I beat the car before I shut it off, I let it idle a lil bit, but that is it. I just drive it like a normal car, and have had 0 problems(when the car is running ).

The best thing about having sooo many speed bumps in my development, is that it takes a good min or so to get from the enterance to my house, that's a min of basically idling. I just wait a few seconds in the car and shut it off since it's not going to get much cooler than that. I'd still like a timer though for peace of mind while parking anywhere esle, but it's not a major an issue as I thought it once was.

When do you see the UPS guy turn his truck off? I never have. How do you know they don't let their turbo's cool off at the end of the day?

My turbo timer's idling time automatically goes up as I drive. It goes up to 7-10 minutes most of the time. Then again for some reason it thinks I'm constantly driving at about 150mph so that could explain it.

Yup, that and I don't have the money for one. Plus, I don't want to have to rewire my alarm so that it will go set while the car is running. So the general consensus is that as long as you are easy on your car the last little bit of driving, it will be okay if you let it sit for about a half minute?
