Default light weight lugnuts.....worth it??

Just wondering if you guys think shelling out $ for light weight lug nuts is worth it.
I'm aware that it would reduce rotating mass but just wanna see if any of you have paid for these lugnuts. tia

skunk2 lugs go for like 80-95 bucks a set of 16 i think. i thought they were well worth it. i'm going to buy my set soon just so it'll match my rims. i don't like the ugly chrome look of the stock lugs.

lightweight or not, get the extended/tapered ones if you like to protect your rims.

after spending a ridiculous amount of money on lightweight forged wheels, might as well go for the gusto and get the lugnuts too.

i'm considering getting those buddy club/axias/whatever name they're going by this week.

What is the purpose of the extended lugs? To change offset to allow wider brakes/calipers to fit? How does it protect rims? Against theft?

No lugnut will protect the rim against theft, at least for people that know what they're doing.
A lot of surface scratches come from airgun tool that everyone uses, lugs don't have to be extented, it could a kind that requires an extension key to be placed over the lugs in order to remove them, kinda like a custom wheel lock.

My $125 Rays lug nuts add almost ad much horsepower as the type R sticker and wing combined, so they are definitely worth it!

Damn dude...that is some serious macro quality. Very nice.

I think that the lugs are worth it simply becuase regular lugs look like crap if you have different colored custom rims. I bought the skunk lugs when I got the volks becuase they match well when the stock lugs looked like crap. Plus the more tapered end on the nicer lugs is better for expensive rims, Rays recommends them.

Any potential safety issues with "lightweight" lug nuts? I would think that they might not be as strong as a regular lug nut. I'm all for shaving weight where possible. But this is only saving a few oz. per wheel, right? Has anyone ever had a failure?

Nikon 990 on the medium resolution setting.

I guess I could take a pic at on the 'fine' setting and blow H-T up.

[here is a pic on fine setting]
