seems like every tranny i buy its not a real ex tranny or one of the gears is bad.. i am wondering if i get an ex tranny off my friend that i know is an ex tranny how much would it be to get it rebuilt so that i will have all my 5 gears and reverse?

 

hey man i went through the same sh*t, every junk yard claimed i was getting an EX tranny and i put it in my car and it was a CX or a DX, never an EX, the sohc trannies are weak as fu*k and they cant hold up for sh*t, i looked in to getting it rebuilt, 1000.00, or more! i had 1st, 2nd, and 5th gear, no 3rd, no 4th, and no reverse. it sux driving like that. i had to park my car so i didnt have to back out every where i went. the point is it is not worth the money, just get a b-series!

The big problem with rebuilding tranny's is the fact that they never work the same. It will always have some minor problem even after they are fixed. This is from my personal experience. I was offered a rebuild for 3rd gear only on my B16 for $800. At this price I feel like getting a new engine or something. If someone finds a place that has a hook up on tranny's let me know. Thanks

 

They wanted 800 to fix 3rd gear on my HX tranny..... I can get about 4 Ex/Si transmissions for that much.

the honda dealer once told me i needed my tranny rebuilt. they wanted $3300 for it. $150 later i got a 94 ex w/ 55k on it.
