Are you sure you have an ex?? the ex tranny is the shortest gear ratio available other than the ZC tranny but that is only cable which you do not use...
I have the ex tranny and the gearing is not that bad......

Wait till you drive with a 96-00 DX tranny. The gearing ratios suck big time!
1st gear tops out a 55 or so, and 2nd gear can go almost 110-115! (KPH) that is
If you still think the EX tranny does not have a good enough ratio, you can always go for a 4.9 FD from SRR.

sounds like you have a dx tranny. with an ex you should be shifting at 35, 60, 90.

1st gear should be same, 2nd is similar, then its different from there.

Re: (maztur)
So where does the EX top out at in each gear? I know for sure my DX tranny hits ~35~60~90~110-115. Where would the EX/Si tranny differ. I know it is different, but how different? Anybody have an EX/SI????

Re: (Trial User)
There is no way you are running a 99 ex tranny. I have a 98 DX (with taller gears) and I shift out of 1st at 38, 2nd and 65, and 3rd at right around 100. Rick

are you sure you're shifting at redline? unless the 92-95 dx's have totally different trannies. my friend's 98 dx redlined at 40, 70, 110.

Haha, yeah I'm sure. Redline is somewhere around 6500 and I know it hits it when I hit the rev limiter. When I installed my turbo I was hitting the rev limiter all the time until I got used to the faster revs. There is no way I could hit 70 in second or 110 in third. That would put my motor up in the 7000+ range.
