EX Tranny
I just put a 97 EX tranny on my 1.5 liter DX motor. the tranny has really tall gears in it it seems. 1st 40, 2nd 70, 3rd 115, 4th?, 5th?. can anyone explain this. i have stock tires on it and the speeds are correct i have had my dad stay next to me in his Z06 Vette and he said they are the same as his. anyone know why? maybe the year? anyone got a top speed on one of those trannys?

@ 6000 RPM stock tire size (165/70/13)-
1992-1995 CX/VX:
37 - 69 - 104 - 133
1992-1995 DX/LX:
30 - 55 - 83 - 107
1996-2000 CX/DX hatch:
33 - 60 - 90 - 117
Looks like you have the 1996-2000 D16Y7 hatchback tranny

my d15b7 dx tranny goes like this, if this helps...
1st - 30
2nd - 60
3rd - 90
another guy above said his z6 tranny went like this, does that mean dx and ex trannys are the same? i know they arent but why did he say that? isnt ex/si trannys 20,50,80 ??

It also depends on the redline bro...a DX tranny on an EX is like 37-70-110

well then I guess your gearing calculator will tell you the actual speed of your car, not the speed on your speedometer. But in this case, to effectively prove these, youre going to have to get someone to point a radar gun at your car while youre redlining each gear, sounds useless to me

on this kind of calculator, tire size doesnt matter, because everyone knows your tire size affects your speed in real life but not on your speedo (which matters)
