Default How to prevent this screw from coming out?

On two occasions, my distributor rotor screw somehow came loose and ripped through my leak cover or damaged my housing. The first time it happened, I thought it was from my stupidity by working in the dark. The second time...the distributor was out and made sure to screw it in tight.

Is this a common problem? Any way I can prevent it?

When I changed my original rotor and cap at 60k, I had to use my impact driver(rotor screw removal) to get the damned screw off. This was the first time I have had to do that on a car. I gave it a couple of love taps on the way back in also.

I had an 88 civic that had this problem years ago. It's screw kept coming out. One day it chopped the head off the screw. I never got to try the impact driver on it, so I don't know if that would have fixed the problem. I ended up trading that car in for my first teggy.

I even had a friend double check that my screw was in tight - used locktite on it too. 10,000 miles later, it came loose!

I wish I had a better answer!!

Loctite 2701 is very tough, but you may have problems removing it later.

When you get a cap for a vtec acura gsr or Type-R it comes complete with the cap rotor the protective inner cap and a new screw. The distributor screw comes coated in a form of thread lock. If you dont have a nea screw I say try the blue loctite no worries about using to much and you dont risk not being able to remove it later the red stuff is pretty strong and like Sgt said you might have to end up breaking apart the old rotot to remove it I've had to do it more than a few times .
