Failed Smog =(
I am high in both catagories. I am pretty sure it is the cat. Also I have some holes in the exhaust muffler could that also be a problem? What are you inputs...
did you take this to the ref? or a smof station at a local shop? just wondering. mine might be coming up on my next registration. do they give you a break down on which parts need to be replaced? so on so forth.
No break down of any parts that need to be replaced. But I am assuming that the Cat is going to needed to be replaced. It has seen better days. Leaded race gas was used. Oh shoot I forgot the O2 maybe bad also...
It was the gas and Cat, there buddy. NoX is created and manipulated by the pistons and the quality of the burn. Hydrogen emissions are varied by the cat and the temp of the burn. The lead fuel was dropped for street use because of the NoX emissions and the Cat. was developed to super heat and bond with the Hydrogen type pollutants. Platinum likes to attract Hydrogen Monoxide when heated up for some reason, and then it breaks it down with it's high heat latency. If you built your engine with a raised ring package it would lower both of the emissions quite a bit actually.
