Default LSD question...need advice

I'm lookin at buying a new PhantomGrip LSD for my 92 Si from a guy for $175; has anyone ever used one before? Is it worth it? Also, how hard is it to install myself? I've helped a friend drop one in his 240, but it seems like it would be harder to install on a FWD car.

I don't really care much for the "plates" style LSD...just save up and get a KAAZ unit or even a Quaife.... just my opinion

What's the difference in the two, as far as how they react when cornering? Why is this type not recommendable?

I don't recommend that type because it isn't really a TRUE LSD, it's just plates that force the diff into using both sides. I've heard good and bad (mostly bad) about the Phantom Grip but in the end nothing will replace a true LSD. The quaife's and Kaaz units are gear type LSD units that will hold up much longer than clutch types and hold more power. Plus you don't have to rebuild them and they warranty them for life even if you drag race or auto-x. The OEM lsd unit is a clutch type, and IMO even that would be better than a PG. Just do some research or even search on this site about LSD's and quaife's or even the Phantom grip and see what everyone thought about them.
