I feel stupid but how do you get the axle in?
I've always just slammed the axle in to get it locked in there...but with the new axle I got, I can't seem to get it in there, even with a hammer on the other end I tapped it a couple times and it's not gettin in there. Any suggestions? I don't want to ruin the axle by hitting it too hard but it only goes in about half way into the tranny.
put grease on the ends? try wiggling it up and downwhile putting it in the tranny(wow that sounds ghey) always do transmission side first.
I couldn't get mine in on the passenger side either. I finally brought it back for another because I thought maybe it was the wrong one. The new one still wouldn't go in. Then I popped it in or so I thought. When I put the car down and put it in drive it made a grinding noise and then POP, it was in.
Not the best way to do it but when I recently took it apart again, it was fine...

Hahaha, yea, that's probably not the best way. I made a mistake...I meant to say it's the driver's side I can't get in. I thought maybe they gave me the wrong one also so I took the passenger side off (by the tranny) and that was hard to get back in also but after I forced it in hard, it finally went back in. However I can't seem to get the driver's side in. I greased it very good...
Any other suggestions?
NOTE:
because I can't get the axle all the way in, I can't connect my lower control arm...it doesn't reath the bolt holes if the axle isn't all the way in.

the axles hand slpines on em, so does the transmission, just turn the axle to you line it up perfect. thats what i did, you just have to be patient. turn it a tiny bit at a time... them are some small splines

Of course the teeth are lined up, otherwise, it wouldn't go in at all. It goes in about halfway but i can't get it in any further. It's always easy to line up the teeth and get it in about halfway, but after that's the hard part...
pull it back out and look at the splines, especially the area on both sides of the c-clip. Maybe there is a gouge mark from pulling the old c- clip or something keeping it from going in.
Figured it out, I had the wrong Axle...i hate this...how many times do you have to repeat to them and they still give you a wrong part number. I have to go return it and get the right one.
