Look for a little green plug near the vtec solenoid (pressure switch) , if you don't see one, it's more than likely JDM.

Different valve cover, no B18c5 stamp (just b18c but with LSD stamp), header on 98 up model engines. All i can think of.

Don't forget the infamous "Made In Japan" tag on the back.

Really, if the price is good and you know the purchase is legitimate, what does it matter whether the engine is from the Japanese market or North American?

The performance difference between the two is negligable and Japanese market engines are typically cheaper anyway.

B18C# = USDM

B18C = JDM

True, to me it would be less hassle to just have a USDM engine and put in a JDM final drive.

Honda Logo is on the JDM valve cover. also if the wiring harness has the plugs on the side the alternator is on its jdm.

"DOHC" is bigger than "VTEC" on USDM, JDM is the other way around.
