Default b18c is it JDM?

I've searched for the differences between USDM and JDM but can only find the technical specs for differences. I just want to know how I can identify if its USDM or JDM when I'm looking at cars to buy, so I dont get ripped for my $$$$. Thanks

correct me if i'm wrong but i think jdm motors don't have any #'s after the c.

jdm = b18c
usdm = b18c1

that is partialy correct. you can tell by the #'s under the B18C, if there are #'s on that stamp pad other than the B18C is it a us motor because that is were they stamp the VIN#. JDM engines are not labled with a VIN #.

JDM motors don't have a suffix # after the last letter (B18C) but USDM motors do (B18C1).

B18C = JDM GSR or JDM ITR
B18C1 = USDM GSR
B18C5 = USDM ITR

If it just says 'b18c' and youre unsure, look at the intake manifold. The GSR will look like this:

While the ITR manifold will look like this...
