install cap, rotor, coil, and plug wires
will i need any special tools for this job? will i need to adjust my timing or anything like that, or is it just a basic installation? thanks
no you won't need to adjust timing. just take your time and try not to strip the screw that holds in the rotor. if your lost get a helms manual they are great help.
wow thats pretty funny, i guess its tough for a self admitting novice like myself to ask a question and get helpful answer, thanks

You need the tools he listed and a screwdriver.

just did all this today on my crx...all you need is a screwdriver.
and my rotor had a #3 allen bolt on it (was rebuilt before, so yours might not have this) but that got replaced with a regular screw that came with the new rotor.

A good #2 Phillips screwdriver for the rotor screw. 8mm socket for the distributor cap bolts. I prefer 1/4" drive ratchet with a 2" extension and a deep 1/4" drive 8mm socket for the distributor cap; novices tend to break the distributor cap bolts off when tightening them. Not replacing the spark plugs ?
no, i am replacing the plugs also, i am having a problem with hesitation at high rpms, so i hope this will fix the issue.
Rotor screw should be about as tight as you can get it with a screwdriver ,without it starting to slip. Distributor cap the same; if you use a screwdriver to tighten the distributor cap, your chances of breaking the bolts are close to nil.
