Just tested ignitor and coil...
I tested them according to what it says in helms, and I am a little confused by the results. There are four wires to test for voltage for the ignitor. Two showed about 12 volts. The other two showed millivolts, 11.2 and 63.2. It seems odd that the voltage would be that low however, but they were consistent.
The coil resistance was a bit on the low side, when I tested between the 2ndary winding and terminal A. I got 10.8 ohms, when the range is 12.8-19.2.
Can anybody confirm that I will need to replace both the coil and ignitor?
BTW my spark plug wires have 50k miles on them and their resistance is way below the service limit: ~5 kohm for most wires. Service limit is 25 kohm. I guess spark plug wires do last pretty long...

odd thing was that when I turned the ignition to off, it would go to exactly 0.
The helms doesn't specify what voltage you should get. Just that you should get voltage. Ugh...
Edit: oops, just noticed that I'm supposed to check the wire betwen the ecm and icm. What's the ecm? The other wire specs between the tachometer and icm...

gotcha.... so I think what helms wants me to do is to check to make sure the wire between the icm and ecm is continuous and the same with the wire to the tach.
I figure since when I connect the wire to the voltmeter and battery terminal that there seems to be a complete circuit that it passes these tests correct?
