is it possible for an ignitor to go bad in 31k?

wow, i was just curious about this myself... anyone know the symptoms of a bad ignitor? do they cause the ignition to cut out at higher rev, while allowing normal driving at lower/mid revs? i am chasing a ignition problem, and it seem to be pointing that way. what is everyone's experience with ignitors going bad? i have been really lucky in 12 year, i never had any ignition problems on any of my honduhs.

 

Once in a while, usually I find its the coil that goes out first...little easier to test so check it out first then diagnose the ignitor...

 

well, i'm not sure it would be the coil. i would imagine if the coil was bad, the car would not run. my car stutters everyonce in a while, and cap,rotor,plugs and wires are all new. it's a funky problem. just curious if i should swap the ignitor (it has 150k on it) hmm, maybe i should swap the coil tooso i have spares....

 

My igniter went bad @ 9K miles on a brand new ITR, so I guess anything is possible. My car was sputtering lightly at idle and running as if I pulled 2 plug wires.
