Default ignitor going poop

I have replaced my ignitor 3 times before and the last time I took out my msd 6al thinking that that was the reason for burning through ignitors. The one I am using right now was only used with the msd for about 2 weeks and it has ben running fine without the msd for the last like 3-4 months, just today tach needle started jumping around again and feels like the car is hesitant or missing when the needle jumps up.

My question is, what the hell made it go bad this time? I took out the msd so I'm pretty sure the msd didn't burn it out in 2 weeks. I'm getting tired of this bullshit should I just replace the whole dist.? Ignitor is almost as much as one from distributor kings anyway right?

By the way I searched a lot, and uh most topics were about diagnosing the problem, i know it's my ignitor already, but the search didn't tell me what makes the ignitor go bad.

Thank you

normally if the ignitor goes bad, it won't be long before the coil goes bad also, when you change one its good to change the other

could a bad ground be causing the needle to jump around and feel sluggish? Please help, im about to buy a new distributor but don't wanna find out that it was something stupid the whole time and make a brand new dist. go to waste.
