I just need advice from someone more knowledgeable than me
So I have a 93 civic EG D16Z6 I had to take the top half of the engine apart and replaced the head gasket but im terrified I didnt get everything in the same place as it was, my timing belt didnt line up exactly with my marks I had to replace the distributor cam key I believe I have 1 at TDC but my Distributor doesnt seem to line up with what my Haynes manual says is correct orientation so im all sorts of confused and I really dont want to mess anything up because this is like my dream car ive always wanted this exact model since I was 16 and im terrified of ruining it because I dont really have anyway of replacing anything major so any like help or rundown to make sure im not screwing it up and possibly in terms an Au-ADHD can understand because if I dont understand the reason for something I just dont get it overall I dont blame anyone if they avoid this post but hoping an old gear head feels bad for a DIY basketcase lol thanks in advance
Well im almost to the point of starting it back up but im missing a hose or 2 but im just confused about the timing and all that can I mess the engine up if its too off time like im still a newbie
I mean yeah you could damage it, it's an interference engine so if the cam is far enough off then the tops of the pistons can smack the valves. Why don't you post some pictures of where the timing marks land when you're at TDC?
