No, you're just stupid and unwilling to do the work yourself.

Lol.

You're good at searching up Chris's background for sarcasm, you should have noooo problem finding a how to thread or guide. You could ask chatgpt and it will be 90% right.

I'm guessing you asked this question on Facebook and got about the same kind of response? :D

Helpful threads are found at the top of this and other relevant sub Forums...

These should get you started:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...-vtec-2987229/

https://honda-tech.com/forums/hybrid...A-%2A-1972711/

As a side note... please understand that many who frequent this Forum, especially those who ARE helpful, have seen the question that you posed hundreds of times. It is easy to get frustrated when people ask questions without doing ANY research at all. The answers that you seek have been posted in this Forum decades ago... and many times over since. This Forum and it's members don't owe you a thing... responding as you did above makes you sound entitled and petulant... I assure you that some humility will get you a warmer welcome as opposed to the insults and attitude.

I appreciate your help. I only responded as such because i dont see why he had to reply “no” rather than just going about his day and of course you guys dont owe me but just dont respond if your not gonna help is my logic I have done a good amount of research but some input from someone who has done it before would be useful.

Fun to see what AI comes up with sometimes...not bad...

What do I need and how do I swap a B16 with transmission into my 2000 Honda Civic that has a D16 in it right now
ChatGPT said:
Nice project — a B16 swap into a 2000 Civic (D16) is a classic upgrade for power and reliability. Since you’re going from a D-series (single-cam) to a B-series (dual-cam VTEC), it’s not plug-and-play, but it’s very doable. Let’s go through what you’ll need and how to do it.

🔧 1. Engine & Transmission

You’ll need a complete B16 engine and transmission package. Common choices:
  • B16A2 (USDM — came in the ’99–’00 Civic Si)
  • B16A (JDM — common in SiR models)
Get a full swap if possible, including:
  • Engine (long block)
  • Transmission (hydraulic type for your 2000 Civic)
  • Engine harness
  • ECU (P2T for USDM Si, or P30/P72 for JDM B16)
  • Shift linkage
  • Axles (B-series compatible)
  • Intermediate shaft (B-series specific)

🧰 2. Mounts

Your D16 mounts won’t work. You’ll need B-series mounts for an EK chassis (’96–’00 Civic).

Options:
  • OEM 99–00 Civic Si mounts (bolt right in)
  • Aftermarket kits (Hasport, Innovative, etc.)

⚙️ 3. Axles & Intermediate Shaft

  • Use B-series axles and the B-series intermediate shaft (the D-series one won’t fit).
    • Example: 99–00 Civic Si or 94–01 Integra axles/intermediate shaft combo.

💡 4. Wiring

Your car is OBD2B (2000 model year), so wiring depends on your engine/ECU:
  • If your B16 is OBD2B (99–00 Si), it’s mostly plug-and-play with the right ECU.
  • If your B16 is OBD2A or OBD1, you’ll need:
    • ECU conversion harness (OBD2B → OBD2A or OBD1)
    • VTEC wiring (D16Y7 cars need added wires for VTEC solenoid, pressure switch, and knock sensor)
    • IACV wiring adjustment (2-wire vs 3-wire differences if using an older B16)

🛠️ 5. ECU

  • Best OEM option: P2T ECU (from 99–00 Civic Si)
  • Other options: P30 or P72 ECU (JDM), or chipped ECU tuned for your setup.

🔩 6. Shift Linkage

  • You need a B-series EK linkage, not D-series.
    • 99–00 Civic Si linkage fits perfectly.
    • Aftermarket (Hasport, Hybrid Racing, etc.) options available.

🛞 7. Fuel System

  • Stock fuel pump is usually fine for a stock B16.
  • You can reuse your D16 fuel lines; the fuel rail connections are compatible.

🧯 8. Exhaust

  • B16 header won’t line up with your D16 exhaust.
  • Use a B-series header and either:
    • Modify your cat to match, or
    • Get an EK B-series test pipe/cat to bolt up.

🔌 9. Cooling

  • D16 radiator works fine.
  • You’ll need B16-specific upper and lower radiator hoses (the D16 ones may not fit perfectly).

🪛 10. Clutch & Transmission

  • You can use your D-series clutch pedal, master, and slave — all compatible with B16 hydraulic setups.
  • Make sure to use a B-series clutch & flywheel.

🧭 11. Optional Upgrades

  • New timing belt, water pump, clutch, and seals before installing.
  • Energy Suspension mount inserts.
  • B16 Si gauge cluster (for proper redline and speed signal compatibility).

🔧 Swap Steps (High-Level)

  1. Remove D16 + trans + harness + mounts
  2. Install B-series mounts
  3. Bolt in B16 + trans
  4. Install B-series axles/intermediate shaft
  5. Wire in VTEC & sensors as needed
  6. Plug in ECU (with conversion harness if needed)
  7. Connect exhaust, cooling, and intake
  8. Double-check fluids and wiring
  9. Start and test for leaks and codes
If you [go tell chatgpt] tell me:
  • Which exact D16 you have (Y7, Y8, etc.)
  • Which B16 you’re planning to use (B16A, A2, etc.)
  • Whether it’s OBD1 or OBD2
…I can give you a pin-by-pin wiring guide and a parts list specific to your combo.

Would you like that next?
