Default Vtec start point

Guys,

I got a V-AFC to play around with, and any good suggestion of where should I set my Vtec start point?

I did tried to set it at 5000rpm, but don't feel the power much.

BTW my F20B orginal start point is around 5500 rpm.

Get on a dyno
exactly, you are wasting your time without dyno tuning any type of VAFC

Actually I did, but I don't feel the power if I set it to 5000rpm.

I mean, those people let me choose the vtec start point and they just fix up the A/F ratio for me and that's it!

you used a dyno? did you tune the VAFC while on the dyno?

are you using a VAFC on a completely stock motor?

yeah 3500 seems like the sweet spot for our f22b1/f23a1/4 motors

What about H22A?

Does anyone got a H22A, and where is your Vtec start point?

i just fiddled with my VAFC while driving and eventually found the sweet spot... you could try the same it might be harder since you got low and high settings to tune...

actually I tried to set the start point back to 5500rpm, and I can feel a sudden push. Kind of like a turbo hehe.

so I guess I should set it between 5000 to 5500.

yea the "push" is nice but you wanna make sure it's still got that smooth transition during the rpms... you can feel it when it kicks in too early and when it kicks in too late...

yes, you want to set the crossover at the point where both cams are making the same amount of torque/power

My ECU is behind the radio, and it can be accessible thru the passenger side.

Hey Accordexchange, are you happy with the VAFC, can you really feel the gains. I want to buy one myself, and then get my car dyno tuned.

i'm OK with it... for now it mainly serves as a interior decoration/accessory or light show in conjunction with my head unit... at least i was able to change my VTEC engagement point (and know when VTEC actually kicks in for once) as well as some other minor initial settings... once i get my turbo kit on, i probably will be happy... people say get SMC, Hondata, AEM, etc... but i'm pretty happy with the VAFC so far... it looks pretty damn cool.. i plan on doing 10psi with the VAFC/440 hack and hopefully i'll be happier...
