b16a 7500 redline?
Hey guys I bought this ej1 that's been b16a swapped everything works it just redlines at 7500rpms and vtec engages around 5000. I've read around about the main issues being auto ecus or gauge cluster isn't accurate the previous owner had a obd1 -> obd2b conversion harness to run the p2t-A11 (factory em1 si ecu) i had recently just bought an auto p30 ecu to test and it redlines around 7200 so either my tach is off by 800ish but my rpm when fully warmed up is around 500ish ( i will be buying a new cluster soon to test) the car does have a CEL on and when jumped it brings up code #65 for Secondary oxygen sensor heater the car has no cats so it was not something I really payed attention too (when the auto p30 ecu was plugged in the o2 sensor code didn't show up only the A/T lock out code) any help appreciated before I just buy a hondata and get the p30 chipped

Your tachometer is suffering from the typical failures we all experience in '92-95 Civics. Capacitors and bad solder joints are typically the culprit. You can try another gauge cluster, but it may be just as bad as the one you have. Have the tachometer repaired and all will be just fine. The JDM P30 Auto ECU has a LOWER redline than the manual version of the P30... thus, the difference that you have observed between the 7500 and 7200 RPM redlines. Hondata will allow you to properly tune the engine (and get rid of the check engine light/codes) but it will not fix your tach issue.
