Power loss issues for acceleration/ won't come out of park
Have a 99 civic LX sedan 1.6 sohc everything is stock dealing with a loss of acceleration power. Background car sat for 3-4 years after the original engine died my bf bought an engine made sure engine was good to go in I helped him put it in he made sure it cranked filled with fluids and idled and then parked it for about 2 years. I bought it from him this spring replaced brakes, fluids, brake lines fuel lines etc got it on and we've been chasing it down since fast forward to today took for a test drive as the loss of power issue was finally gone it seemed drove great around the neighborhood for 1hr drive to pickup ice cream for the kiddos parked it wouldn't come out of park at all then had to force shift it under the shifter hole to get it home but had a severe loss of power again. 😩😑😭 I'm about sick of this car
Replaced
IAC valve
Pcv valve
Fuel filter
Oil filter
Air filter
New fluids
New belts
New plugs, wires, distributor dialed in as well
New TPS sensor and calibrated at install to correct parameters
CLeaned throttle body replaced all sensors on that as well I think I forgot one listed above
Fixed brake lines and fuel lines as they were rusted beyond repair
New fuel pump
Timing he did when he was getting the engine ready due to compression test I understand that timing and compression are fine?
Also completed a compression test this morning all read 160-165
Would the brake light switch if that's what happened today going out cause a loss in power after making it go into drive? I say if as it's 100 outside and I decided I'm going to check it later today when the sun retreats a bit after melting in the car trying to get out of park. Or am I looking for something else... Car shifts fine as far as trans goes its an automatic no slamming of gears or any issues there. But seems that it has an issue where you will press the gas pedal and it takes eons to get any kind of power to accelerate from a stop.
Sorry for the long drawn out post just running out things to replace or check 😑😩😒
