The service manual states "Bend the lock washer against the flat spots on the bracket with a large pair of pliers." I have a normal sized pair of pliers that isn't bending squat. I suspect I could easily hammer the washer flat over the bracket, but also suspect the manual specifies pliers to avoid straining the bolts securing the bracket. Is there really some sort of pliers large enough to competently bend this washer in place, or is my hammer idea acceptable?
