Is shorting ODB2 port pins 4 and 9 ok while engine is running?
2006 TSX. Will it cause any damage to short or jump the ODB2 port pins 4 and 9 while the engine is running?
The transmission "D" indicator light blinks occasionally. This started on March 15. It's happened on three occasions. This past week it only blinked once (the third occasion) even though the car was being driven everyday. My very basic ODB2 reader (ThinkOBD 100) did not read any code--not even while the engine was running and the "D" was blinking. The blinking does not persist once the ignition has been shut off and the key turned to position 2 again. I understand that jumping pins 4 and 9 on the ODB2 port would cause the "D" to blink a pattern of slow blinks followed by quick blinks to communicate any transmission fault code. I would need to do this jump while the engine is running because the blinking goes away once the engine is restarted. Hence, I need to know whether doing this jump while the engine is running would cause any damage.
